Scala Developer – Data & Analytics Platform

This role is focused on large-scale data transformation challenges within the financial services domain, contributing to risk management and regulatory reporting solutions. The position involves collaboration with data engineers, analysts, and cloud architects.

• 3+ years of commercial experience in Scala (preferably in a distributed data environment)
• Hands-on experience with Apache Spark and large-scale data processing
• Familiarity with Hadoop components such as Hive, Oozie, and HDFS
• Strong understanding of CI/CD, particularly with Jenkins, Git workflows, and versioned deployments
• Proficiency in shell scripting and basic database querying (HQL, SQL)
• Ability to troubleshoot production issues and perform root cause analysis (RCA)
• Previous experience working in agile teams with regular delivery cycles

Nice to have:

• Familiarity with Splunk, Kafka, or Snowflake
• Background in financial services or knowledge of risk reporting frameworks
• Exposure to cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Certifications related to Scala, Spark, or Big Data tools

• Build and maintain Spark/Scala applications for batch and real-time data processing
• Work with large datasets across the Hadoop ecosystem, ensuring reliable ingestion, transformation, and enrichment
• Participate in architectural discussions and translate business logic into robust, testable code
• Automate deployment flows via CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Git, etc.)
• Contribute to documentation such as technical diagrams, process descriptions, and data flows
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams in an agile setup, including sprint planning and peer reviews
