Technical Lead (node.js, backend)

OneRail Poland is a company working on industry-leading technology shaping the future of logistics. The office is located in Kraków, Poland. The company offers a flexible hybrid work style and flexible employment types.

• 8+ years in software engineering, ideally with Node.js and React tech stack.
• At least 2 years experience in a technical leadership role.
• Expertise in designing and developing scalable APIs with knowledge of RESTful principles.
• Knowledge of microservices architecture and related design patterns.
• Experience with message queues such as RabbitMQ and Kafka, and event-driven architecture.
• Experience with databases like MySQL, MongoDB, CosmosDB, or similar.
• Experience utilizing cloud services: Azure and GCP.
• Experience with containerization technologies Docker and Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and CI/CD practices.
• Experience managing software releases, performance monitoring, and improving reliability.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in fast-paced environments.
• Ability to explain complex technical concepts to engineers, executives, and cross-functional teams.
• Advanced proficiency in English (B2+).

Nice to have:

• Knowledge of TypeScript and .NET

• Define the technical direction, ensuring architecture is scalable, maintainable, and high performing.
• Stay hands-on with coding while leading by example and enforcing best practices in security, performance, development, deployment, and observability.
• Implement scalable microservices, API gateways, and event-driven architectures with high availability, disaster recovery, and fault tolerance.
• Champion high-quality code testing, automation testing, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD).
• Oversee Azure-based cloud architecture for performance, security, and cost efficiency.
• Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of 5-7 engineers, fostering collaboration, accountability, and professional growth.
• Actively recruit and interview top engineering talent.
• Collaborate with Product Managers to align roadmaps, streamline development, and enhance team processes.
• Optimize SDLC processes to improve velocity and efficiency while maintaining low cycle times.
• Establish engineering KPIs and leverage data-driven insights to enhance performance.
• Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies to improve the platform.

Work style: hybrid, 2-3 days from the office per week preferred. Office locations include Kraków, Rzeszów, Tarnów, Katowice, Poland.
