Head of Automation Engineering

Huzzle is a career platform that connects top talents with leading companies across the UK, US, Europe, and Australia. Their clients include startups, digital agencies, and tech platforms in industries such as SaaS, MarTech, FinTech, and EdTech. This role is for an AI-powered go-to-market platform operator that designs and deploys automation-driven revenue systems to assist scaling companies from $1M to $100M+ ARR using tools like Clay, n8n, AI agents, and multi-channel outreach platforms.

Non-Negotiable:

• Deep production-level experience with n8n automation architecture and workflow design.
• Strong full-stack development experience with JavaScript / TypeScript, including Node.js backend and frontend frameworks such as React.
• Proven ability to lead engineering teams while remaining hands-on in production code.
• Experience building AI-powered systems using LLM APIs (Claude, OpenAI, or similar) in production.
• Strong systems architecture skills designing scalable, fault-tolerant systems.
• Experience translating business problems into technical solutions in fast-moving environments.

Strongly Preferred:

• Experience building automation systems within agencies, SaaS platforms, or service businesses handling multi-client infrastructure.
• Experience launching products used by real customers beyond internal tools.
• Familiarity with outbound and automation tools like Clay, Airtable, HubSpot, Slack APIs, and email infrastructure.
• Experience deploying and managing infrastructure on AWS, GCP, or similar cloud platforms.
• Experience using AI tools like Claude as daily development accelerators.

Automation Architecture & Infrastructure:

• Own and scale the company’s n8n automation ecosystem including workflow architecture, orchestration, monitoring, and optimization.
• Design automation infrastructure for multi-client operational complexity across ICPs, channels, and campaign structures.
• Architect integration layers connecting operational tools such as Clay, Airtable, HubSpot, Slack, and outbound platforms.
• Build error handling, monitoring, alerting, and self-healing mechanisms within automation pipelines.
• Ensure automation systems remain maintainable, scalable, and resilient with growth.

Product Development & Engineering:

• Build internal platforms and tools converting operational processes into scalable products.
• Develop client-facing automation tools and reporting systems to extend product offerings.
• Own the full-stack development lifecycle from architecture to deployment and iteration.
• Establish engineering standards including code reviews, CI/CD pipelines, testing frameworks, and documentation.

AI Systems & Intelligence Layer:

• Design and implement production-grade AI pipelines using models like Claude and GPT.
• Build systems combining AI decision-making with deterministic automation logic.
• Develop infrastructure for prompt engineering, model evaluation, and system monitoring.
• Optimize AI usage for cost efficiency, reliability, and scalability.

Team Leadership & Technical Strategy:

• Build and manage the automation engineering team including hiring, mentoring, and performance.
• Partner with CEO/Founder to translate business strategy into technical execution.
• Lead sprint planning, backlog prioritization, and retrospectives.
• Make strategic build vs. buy decisions to maintain velocity and competitive advantage.
