Critical Environment Technician

Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) team maintains critical infrastructure for datacenters supporting services like Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and Microsoft Azure. The team manages a global portfolio of over 200 datacenters in 32 countries, serving more than 1 billion customers and 20 million businesses worldwide. The role emphasizes environmental sustainability and optimization in datacenter design and operations.

Required Qualifications:

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Provide a qualification certificate to operate equipment, installations, and networks in an operational capacity (Polish SEP-certified electrician's license, at least type “E”). The certificate must be active and provided during recruiting.
• Ability to work shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, including passing the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent with demonstrated technical services experience in high-availability assembly/manufacturing/critical infrastructure environments such as data centers, oil and gas refineries, hospitals, or pharmaceutical.
• OR Associate's Degree or technical trade certification (e.g., military, trade school), or higher-equivalent education.
• OR equivalent experience.

• Perform assigned basic tasks such as making rounds, recording building observations, and taking measurements with varying levels of supervision.
• Perform basic monitoring and inspection of critical environment-related facility equipment (e.g., controls, HVAC, mechanical systems), building, and grounds for unsafe or abnormal conditions.
• Learn to operate all systems and equipment safely and professionally, understanding associated risks.
• Utilize internal computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to track equipment assets and complete work order requests.
• Assist safely in emergency monitoring and response to abnormal conditions following emergency operating procedures (EOPs).
• Perform various types of maintenance (planned, predictive, corrective) following methods of procedure (MOPs) and standard operating procedures (SOPs) under supervision.
• Document tasks and issues found during maintenance and troubleshooting for follow-up and escalate as appropriate.
• Provide necessary escorts for third-party contractors, sub-contractors, vendors, and service providers on site based on severity-level procedures.
• Understand, follow, and ensure safety and security requirements, including job hazard assessments (JHAs), environmental health and safety (EH&S), and toolbox talks.
• Follow business processes and procedures to perform work safely, with quality and reliability, in accordance with applicable federal, state, local, and Microsoft requirements.
• Embody Microsoft culture and values.

This position requires an active Polish SEP-certified electrician's license (at least type “E”) valid for 5 years, to be provided during recruiting. Ability to work shifts including non-standard business hours. Must pass Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire and every two years thereafter.
