Senior Java Software Engineer

Join a high-performing Payments Engineering team working on critical ISO 20022 transformation initiatives. Collaborate in a small, experienced pod of engineers to modernise and adapt legacy systems, delivering high-impact changes within complex financial environments.

• 4+ years’ experience in Java development
• Strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, Hibernate, and DB2
• Experience with microservices and event-driven architectures
• REST API development
• Apache Kafka (streams, consumers/producers)
• MongoDB and data modelling
• Maven and multi-module builds
• Docker and containerisation
• Git and CI/CD pipelines (GitLab preferred)
• Strong analytical mindset and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, global team environment
• Strong communication skills and ownership mentality
• Any frontend experience is welcome

Nice to have:

• IBM MQ / JMS
• Infrastructure as Code
• ISO 20022 / SWIFT / financial messaging knowledge
• Python scripting
• Background in financial services or payments

• Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather and refine requirements
• Contribute to solution design and technical planning with the engineering team
