Head of Data

TransferGo is a growing fintech scale-up with close to 400 employees in offices across Europe and the UK. The company focuses on providing tailored, affordable financial services to improve financial freedom and the well-being of customers and their families.

Strategic Leadership & Organizational Design:

• 6+ years in Data/Analytics with experience scaling "Hub-and-Spoke" or Data Mesh models.
• Proven ability to influence and align senior stakeholders without direct reporting lines.
• Strategic approach treating data platform and datasets as internal products.
• Experience leading organizational transitions and establishing high-performance data culture.

Technical Excellence & Methodology:

• Lead evaluation and implementation of AI-driven data extraction solutions.
• Expert knowledge of cloud data warehousing (Snowflake, Redshift), transformation layers (dbt), and orchestration.
• Proficiency in SQL and Python/R for complex data modeling and predictive analytics.
• Experience with version control (Git) and CI/CD practices in data workflows.
• Extensive experience in designing and analyzing A/B tests and applying advanced statistical methods.
• Background in high-scale operational analytics including forecasting and automated quality assurance.

Functional Management & Governance:

• Experience defining hiring standards, career frameworks, and mentorship for Data Analysts and Scientists.
• Proven ability to establish global data standards and unified metric definitions.
• Exceptional ability to translate technical findings into executive-level narratives.
• Results-oriented mindset bridging data science and actionable business solutions.

Strategic Leadership & Governance:

• Define and execute a global data roadmap aligned with company-wide OKRs.
• Define universal metrics to ensure a single source of truth across departments.
• Set policies for data privacy, security, and compliance (GDPR) without slowing product teams.

Platform & Infrastructure:

• Own selection and maintenance of data warehouse (e.g., Snowflake/Redshift), transformation layers (dbt), and BI tools (Looker/Tableau).
• Lead core data engineering efforts to ensure robust ETL/ELT pipelines serving decentralized teams.
• Build infrastructure enabling non-technical stakeholders to access insights independently.

Functional Excellence & Community:

• Create and lead a "Data Guild" or "Community of Practice" for knowledge sharing and mentorship among analysts.
• Define hiring standards, leveling rubrics, and career paths for data roles.
• Drive adoption of version control (Git), documentation, and automated testing within analytic workflows.

Business Impact & Culture:

• Act as an evangelist for data-driven decision-making, coaching C-suite and Product Leads.
• Partner with Department Leads to identify data gaps and advocate for analyst placement in high-impact areas.
