AI Tooling Engineer (Regular)

VirtusLab is a leading European software consulting and engineering company, home to over 350 EU-based professionals. The company focuses on crafting clean code and practical solutions with precision and purpose. The project involves working with the core developer tooling team responsible for over 30,000 developers at one of the biggest investment banks, focusing on LLM-based tools for developers such as Claude Code and Copilot CLI.

• High agency and focus on completing work
• Hands-on experience or willingness to work with agentic, LLM assistance, and vibe coding
• Experience with Python and/or TypeScript; knowledge of Java, Scala, C++ is beneficial
• Good communication skills
• Experience working with external teams and processes
• Experience extending developer tooling: IDEs, CI/CD systems
• Some experience with design and creation of TUI, GUI, or web applications (nice to have)
• Willingness to work outside standard hours (after 6:00 PM CET) is an additional asset

• Complete work despite obstacles, focusing on tasks and projects without excuses
• Use programming languages as tools, primarily Python and TypeScript, but also Java, Scala, C++
• Evaluate and work hands-on with agentic, LLM assistance and vibe coding tools in client environments
• Debug and profile network and memory issues (plus)
• Communicate effectively and pragmatically solve problems
• Work collaboratively with team members and external teams
• Analyze issues and propose and implement solutions with other developers
• Extend developer tooling such as IDEs and CI/CD systems
• Support users by running trials, checks, and handling escalations from support teams
• Customize LLM tools to fit client environments and workflows
• Integrate existing and new context sources including various MCP
• Track user needs and build generic mechanisms fitting multiple teams
• Balance security requirements with pragmatism and user experience
