Software Engineer

• Bachelor's degree or 3+ years of relevant work experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
• Hands-on experience in designing and developing applications using Java EE platforms
• Object oriented analysis and design using common design patterns and adherence to SOLID principles
• Understanding of test-driven development
• Creative, high-energy, proactive problem-solving skills with appropriate sense of urgency
• Focus on customers and user experience
• Experience working closely with other project resources including solution analyst, QA, architect
• Estimating effort for change and new projects combining model-based approach and practical experience
• Basic knowledge of generative AI tools and their use to improve engineering productivity and workflow efficiency
• Strong communication skills with ability to frame context, present complex ideas and document clearly
• Ability to manage and balance multiple projects and tasks to meet deliverable dates
• Understand and support documentation of best practice business processes
• Comfortable in an environment of rapid change and ambiguity with ability to make decisions understanding risk
• Able to work in a complex highly-matrix and regulated environment
• Global/International experience and ability to work across cultures and time zones

• Engage in technical design of solution based on use cases and business requirements
• Complete proof of concepts and other technical evaluations of technologies, designs, and solutions
• Contribute to the creation of detailed design and use case documents
• Effectively interact with internal teams to develop solutions to complex technical issues on highly visible business opportunities
• Use approved generative AI tools to improve efficiency in day-to-day development work while adhering to engineering standards and best practices
• Analyze current solution architecture & design and propose solutions that increase business value, optimize performance and enhance quality
• Adhere and contribute to best practices, guidelines, standards and procedures
• Communicate and present complex technical concepts for peers
• Ensure inclusion of Visa’s business vision, current business environment (internally and externally) and technology and industry trends to enable results that drive Visa’s business
