Lead SW Engineer

• 10+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 7 years of work experience with an Advanced degree or 4 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 13+ years of relevant work experience.
• Bachelor degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering or related field required. MS or other related advanced degree preferred.
• Typically requires 12+ years of experience in application services development for large scale systems.
• Experience with web services standards and related technologies (HTTP, HTTP2, Spring, XML, JSON, REST, WS*, AXIS, JERSEY).
• Expert in Java with experience in REST APIs, distributed systems, and exposure to container-based technologies.
• Experience leveraging AI tools to enhance development efficiency, improve workflows, and mentor peers on effective usage.
• Experience with messaging systems like Kafka.
• Solid understanding of database technologies and SQL.
• Exposure to Non-SQL database technologies.
• Proven problem-solving skills and ability to respond resourcefully to new demands, priorities, and challenges.
• Strong work ethic to focus on organizational goals.
• Proven experience as a technical leader with ability to understand requirements and independently architect, design and build solutions.
• Passion to work with people and help mentor team to reach new heights.
• Excellent verbal, written and listening communication skills.
• Understanding of end-to-end system and strong debugging and root cause analysis skills to help support production systems.
• Preferred experience in payments integration and/or online ecommerce shopping and/or Payment gateways.

• Responsible for leading a team of development staff on the architecture, design, development, and implementation of software applications, including providing technical coordination, oversight and leadership for development staff.
• Lead the architecture, design, and development of a functional track.
• Work closely with project team members (scrum masters, architects, product owners, analysts, testers and functional managers), and coordinate and lead interfaces with other groups (e.g. Network, QA, Operations, Engineering).
• Engage in technical design of solution based on use cases and business requirements.
• Complete proof of concepts and other technical evaluations of technologies, designs and solutions.
• Drive the development, review, and approval of technical designs, code reviews, and other engineering deliverables in accordance with established standards and best practices.
• Use AI tools to improve development speed, quality, and efficiency, and coach peers on integrating them into everyday engineering workflows.
• Engage development leads and architects (both enterprise and domain) to ensure that overall Enterprise Architecture is inclusive of all stakeholder viewpoints and vetted to ensure artifacts support, reflect, advance and integrate as intended.
• Ensure inclusion of Visa’s business vision, current business environment (internally and externally) and technology and industry trends to enable results that drive Visa’s business.
