Data Architect (Azure, Lakehouse)

• Expert-level proficiency in Azure Data Factory including pipeline design, linked services, integration runtimes, incremental load patterns, and CDC
• Strong command of Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2, Unity Catalog, and Azure networking fundamentals (VNets, Private Endpoints)
• Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps for CI/CD pipeline construction covering Databricks and ADF deployment
• Familiarity with Microsoft Purview for data governance and lineage (desirable)
• Deep, hands-on Databricks experience with delivered real solutions
• Expertise in Databricks SQL, Delta Lake, and medallion architecture
• Ability to design and implement performant Databricks SQL views at scale
• Experience with Unity Catalog configuration and RBAC
• Familiarity with Databricks Lakeflow (desirable)
• Strong T-SQL / SQL Server background for porting views and understanding source data structures
• Proven ability to design and implement fact/dimension tables, staging tables, and analytic models in lakehouse context
• Experience building and running reconciliation frameworks
• Solid Python skills for pipeline logic, test scripting, and utility development
• Experience designing greenfield modern data platforms and leading modernization of brownfield data environments
• Ability to produce clear architecture artifacts including solution design documents, data flow diagrams, entity models, and deployment architecture
• Sound understanding of data modelling in Lakehouse and dimensional design
• Proven consulting or client-facing experience with credible communication and expectation management
• Experience producing and owning delivery plans
• Comfortable working in recovery or turnaround contexts
• Experience working under an engagement lead with high autonomy

• Rapidly review and understand the original Statement of Work, change requests, and any pre-existing contractual dependencies
• Audit the current state of the Databricks environment for quality and alignment to design
• Identify root causes for delivery gaps including client-side blockers, scope ambiguity, and engineering shortfalls
• Assess the medallion architecture (Bronze / Silver / Gold) and ADF pipeline design against best practices and client requirements
• Review outstanding work items and produce a clear picture of remaining effort
• Validate, correct, or redesign existing solution architecture to ensure scalability and maintainability
• Own technical design for remaining deliverables including ADF pipelines, Databricks SQL views, medallion layers, Unity Catalog, and CI/CD deployment via Azure DevOps
• Document architectural decisions clearly for technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Define reconciliation and testing framework for view validation against SQL Server source systems
• Lead engineering delivery of remaining scope including porting SQL Server views to Databricks SQL, building and validating ADF pipelines, implementing gold-layer dimensional models, and deploying via Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines
• Produce high-quality, well-documented, maintainable code
• Execute or oversee reconciliation framework to prove view correctness
• Manage client dependencies and escalate blockers promptly
• Produce a structured delivery plan with milestones, dependencies, and acceptance criteria
• Support Engagement Lead in presenting recovery plan to client
• Attend client-facing sessions as technical authority
• Support delivery management with regular progress reporting
