Senior Infrastructure Software Engineer, Filesystem

As an Infrastructure Engineer at Dropbox, you will shape and construct robust systems supporting flagship products and future engineering innovations. Your work will optimize user experiences, ensure scalability and data integrity, and impact millions of users globally. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is key to tackling challenges and advancing Dropbox's platform.

• BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field involving coding (e.g., physics or mathematics), or equivalent technical experience.
• 9+ years of professional software development experience.
• Proven experience constructing and managing expansive, multi-threaded, geographically dispersed backend systems.
• Proficient in programming and debugging in languages such as Python, Go, C/C++, or Java.
• Extensive experience with operating system internals, filesystems, databases, networks, and compilers is advantageous.
• Ability to navigate and thrive in ambiguous situations with adaptability and problem solving.
• Capable of taking ownership of long-term projects and seeing them through to completion.
• Ability to set medium-to-long term strategy for business-impacting projects.

• Build infrastructure managing metadata for hundreds of billions of files, handling hundreds of petabytes of user data, and supporting millions of concurrent connections.
• Lead expansion of Dropbox's data-fabric connecting hundreds of millions of applications, devices, and services globally.
• Measure and optimize Dropbox's analytics platform to maintain industry-leading insight extraction from large data volumes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance performance, reliability, and security of Dropbox's infrastructure.
• Identify opportunities and drive improvements impacting broader business initiatives across teams or products.
• Navigate ambiguous situations with adaptability and strategic thinking.
• Occasionally participate in on-call work to address bugs, outages, or operational issues to maintain service quality.
