Senior Design System Specialist

Polskie Linie Lotnicze LOT is a company operating in the aviation industry, offering products and services that accompany millions of passengers daily. The role involves working in a unique environment of the aviation sector with international projects and a dynamic atmosphere.

• Several years of experience working on Design Systems in a product organization, preferably in an ownership or leading role.
• Very good knowledge of UI component and pattern design and ability to think systemically.
• Practical experience implementing and maintaining accessibility standards (WCAG) and ability to translate them into components and processes.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with development teams: understanding technical constraints, awareness of front-end realities, good communication during handoff.
• Experience in Design System governance: prioritizing changes, approval processes, versioning, managing technical debt.
• Very good communication and facilitation skills.
• Ability to create clear, concise documentation and lead teams through change.
• Portfolio/case studies demonstrating systemic work (components, tokens, rules, processes) and impact on product/organization.
• Experience working with design tokens end-to-end (definition → implementation → distribution → maintenance).
• Experience in multi-product/multi-channel environments (e.g., app + web) and coordinating cross-team collaboration.
• Knowledge of metrics and approaches to measuring design system effects and adoption (e.g., component reuse, deployment time, error reduction, UI consistency).
• Experience conducting workshops, communities of practice, or internal training.
• Experience with QA processes / visual testing / UI regression (collaboration or initiating standards).

• Co-create and implement the development strategy of the Design System (priorities, roadmap, quality standards).
• Ensure consistency of user experience (UX/UI) and compliance with visual identity and brand standards in digital channels.
• Design, develop, and maintain a scalable component library and patterns, focusing on reusability and deployment stability.
• Define and enforce accessibility standards (WCAG) in components, tokens, documentation, and production processes.
• Collaborate with UX/UI designers, front-end development teams, QA, and PM/PO: clarify requirements, handoff, support implementations, resolve discrepancies.
• Define and develop tokens/variables and rules for their use in products.
• Improve the workflow with the Design System (workflow, governance, versioning, release notes).
• Conduct quality reviews (design/dev reviews) and support decision-making in trade-off situations (UX, performance, time-to-market, maintainability).
• Build and maintain documentation (guidelines, do/don'ts, examples, usage rules, definitions) to be practically useful for teams.
• Mentor and develop competencies within the organization: educate teams, promote best practices, raise project maturity.
• Initiate and coordinate cross-team collaboration regarding the design system (consistent standards and implementations across the organization).
