Affirm is seeking a Staff Full Stack Software Engineer to join the Acquisition & Onboarding team within the Consumer org. This is a high-impact leadership role for an engineer who can set technical direction, drive architectural decisions, and elevate the quality and velocity of full stack development across mobile, web, and backend systems. The team plays a critical role in shaping the first experience customers have with Affirm—building trust, clarity, and value from the very first interaction.
Wymagania
- 8+ years of experience as a software engineer.
- Proficient in designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale using technologies like Python, Kotlin, AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
- Proficient in developing web apps using declarative UI frameworks like React, React Native, or Vue.
- Experience delivering major features, system components, or deprecating existing functionality through definition of technical and execution plans.
- Ability to write high quality code that is easily understood and used by others.
- Comfortable working from low level language idioms to architecture of large systems.
- Demonstrated growth and impact through gathering and iterating on feedback from engineering and cross-functional peers.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills supporting effective collaboration with a global engineering team.

- Set technical strategy for the team on a year-long time scale and tie it together with critical, business-impacting projects.
- Collaborate across teams in the product development lifecycle with product management, design, and analytics to ensure technical sustainability, risks, and trade-offs are well understood and managed.
- Act as a force-multiplier for the team through definition and advocacy of technical solutions and operational processes.
- Take ownership of the team’s operations and availability by ensuring appropriate monitoring, triage rotations, playbooks, policies, testing, and alerting are in place to support "keep the lights on" and on-call efforts.
- Foster a culture of quality and ownership by setting code review and design standards for the team and advocating for them beyond the team through writing and tech talks.
- Help develop talent on the team by providing feedback and guidance, and leading by example.
