DevOps Engineer / SRE

Fundraise Up is a global fundraising platform designed to make donating to nonprofits fast, seamless, and accessible. The platform powers tens of millions of dollars in donations monthly and serves nonprofit organizations worldwide, including UNICEF and the Alzheimer’s Association. The product ecosystem includes a modern checkout experience, customizable widgets, donor and partner portals, admin tools, and internal apps. The backend uses Node.js (Koa, NestJS) and MongoDB, with frontend technologies including Webpack, Vue.js, React, and TypeScript. Messaging and background processing utilize Kafka and Bull (Redis), analytics data is stored in ClickHouse, and Elasticsearch is used for search. The distributed team consists of 160+ product professionals, including 80+ engineers, mainly based across Europe and surrounding regions.

• 4+ years as a DevOps Engineer / SRE or similar responsibilities
• Hands-on experience with servers (VMs, bare metal) at the OS level and below: configuring, troubleshooting, root cause analysis
• Confident Linux skills (Ubuntu) including core Linux Crisis Tools
• Solid understanding of networking basics; ability to configure and troubleshoot iptables
• Experience with Ansible and Git
• Experience with Bash or Python scripting for automation and observability
• Production/on-call experience: diagnosing incidents, restoring service, participating in post-mortems
• Strong ownership and attention to detail

Nice to have:

• Hands-on experience in two or more of the following: ClickHouse, MongoDB, Kafka, Redis, Elasticsearch, HAProxy/Nginx, OS tuning, Full Disk Encryption on LVM, Infrastructure Security tools (Teleport, HashiCorp Vault)
• Experience with VictoriaMetrics, complex CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins), bare-metal Kubernetes, Flux and GitOps, Terraform

• Work primarily with on-premise infrastructure (bare metal and VMs): setup, maintenance, troubleshooting
• Drive clarity in ambiguous situations by defining requirements, assumptions, and next steps
• Own automation projects end-to-end (design → rollout → maintenance)
• Improve operational processes: harden and tune systems and enhance operational hygiene
• Keep the platform stable, fast, and secure: servers, web servers, databases, queues
• Investigate production incidents across OS, networking, and infrastructure layers; apply temporary mitigations; coordinate with developers; participate in post-mortems
• Participate in on-call rotations
• Use AI in day-to-day work for researching, troubleshooting, and developing
