React Engineer

Lendable is a UK-based fintech company with over 700 employees, profitable since 2017, backed by investors including Balderton Capital and Goldman Sachs. The company has rebuilt major consumer finance products such as loans, credit cards, and car finance, focusing on fast money delivery to customers. It is expanding into the UK and US markets, targeting large financial institutions with outdated systems.

• Minimum 3 years of experience.
• Strong knowledge of modern JavaScript with TypeScript and React.js.
• Commercial experience with the latest versions of NextJS.
• Good understanding of automated testing and pragmatic implementation of testing pyramid phases.
• Ability to identify and assess technical debt and advocate for code improvements alongside feature work.
• Solid understanding of accessibility needs and familiarity with related approaches and tooling.
• Proactive ownership of work and collaboration with product teams, including communication of blockers and seeking feedback.
• Comfortable working with product owners and senior engineers to interpret design wireframes or specs and suggest alternatives.

• Experience in fintech or startup/scaleup environments.
• Experience working on financial systems.

• Experience with multi-product web applications in a monorepo environment (Turborepo).
• Experience with modern React features such as Server Components and NextJS app folder.
• Experience working with OpenAPI/Swagger specifications and backend collaboration.
• Demonstrable experience with web performance best practices and debugging.
• Experience with staged rollouts and multivariate testing.
• Experience in UI or UX design and ability to discuss design decisions with product managers and designers.

• Deliver new features and technical refinements for the Unsecured Loans product targeting the US credit market.
• Build new user journeys and optimize conversion rates in existing funnels.
• Conduct experiments and fast iteration to answer product questions.
• Maintain, refactor, and improve the codebase and tooling.
• Collaborate with product owners and senior engineers to assess feature implementation challenges and propose alternative approaches.
