FOSS Licensing SME

Mindbox is a tech-driven company connecting top IT talents with technology projects for leading enterprises across Europe. The role is part of the Engineering Practice team in the CTO function, collaborating closely with engineering teams and the legal department.

• Postgraduate experience in copyright or contract law.
• Interest and experience in software development.
• Hands-on experience with open source software either from a usage or contribution perspective.
• Experience in a controlled or regulated environment.

Nice to have:

• Legal training and in-depth knowledge of copyright law.
• Experience in DevSecOps and Agile environments.
• Familiarity with license evaluation tooling such as Nexus IQ Server, Black Duck, or similar.

• Evaluate and communicate the implications of FOSS licenses to engineering teams.
• Support training and awareness initiatives around open source licensing within technology teams.
• Classify licenses not recognized by automation into predefined categories (Liberal, Permissible, Weak Copyleft, Copyleft, Banned).
• Review the current approach to open source license management and recommend changes or exceptions with associated conditions.
• Participate in selecting, assessing, and developing license evaluation automation tools.
