Principal Software Engineer (Experiences)

The Tripadvisor Group connects people to experiences worth sharing, aiming to be the world’s most trusted source for travel and experiences. It includes brands such as Tripadvisor, Viator, and TheFork. The Tripadvisor Experiences Engineering team, distributed across Europe, is responsible for the platform, mobile apps, and supporting infrastructure that help operators build their businesses and enable third parties to utilize inventory. The team also provides tools for customer services to support travelers and operators internationally.

• 10+ years of experience in commercial software development.
• Proven excellence in technical leadership and cross-team collaboration in fast-paced environments.
• Strong expertise in troubleshooting production issues.
• Experience building scalable and distributed software systems from conception to production.
• Knowledge of software architecture, design principles, and engineering best practices.
• Experience with AWS or Azure cloud platforms.
• Proficiency in object-oriented programming languages such as Java, Python, or Scala.
• Experience working with both SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Exposure to the data engineering ecosystem is a significant plus.

• Drive the design and architecture of complex, scalable systems addressing scalability, reliability, consistency, and quality across an engineering pillar.
• Conduct design reviews at the engineering pillar level and across the broader engineering organization.
• Lead improvements in operational maturity for the platform and promote best practices in operations.
• Collaborate with engineering managers and senior engineers to drive technology strategy and roadmap aligned with organizational vision.
• Partner with Product Managers and Engineering Managers to establish technical delivery milestones and drive delivery within scope, quality, and timelines.
• Serve as a trusted leader and go-to person across multiple technologies, practices, and tools within an engineering pillar.
• Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders to ensure alignment on project goals, commitments, and timelines.

This role is based in Cracow, Poland on a permanent contract of employment (Umowa o pracę).
