Senior Software Engineer-Serverless & Messaging

CloudFerro creates technologies used daily by European leaders in science and the space sector, including ESA, EUMETSAT, ECMWF, Mercator Ocean International, DLR, and EGI. The company works closely with the Earth Observation sector to support analyses and better understanding of our planet. They are building a sovereign European cloud platform from scratch, offering a complete PaaS stack based on Kubernetes and open source technologies.

• Experience working with Kubernetes: independently designing, building, or operating complex systems on production clusters.
• Practice in creating distributed systems: ability to design architecture, inter-service communication, and solve distributed systems problems.
• Very good knowledge of Go and good knowledge of Python for creating operators, controllers, APIs, and CLI tools.
• Ability to build integrations and API wrappers based on REST or gRPC and work with existing frameworks.
• Comfortable using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code, Copilot) as a natural part of daily engineering work.

Nice to have:

• Experience with Knative, especially in serving, eventing, autoscaling, and cold start optimization.
• Knowledge of RabbitMQ, NATS, or Apache Kafka in the context of event-driven architecture and event flow design.
• Practice with serverless platforms and FaaS patterns (e.g., OpenFaaS, AWS Lambda, Cloud Functions).
• Experience creating Terraform providers or custom resources.
• Experience gained at a cloud provider, working on platform services or infrastructure.
• Activity in open source, especially projects in the CNCF ecosystem.

• Full responsibility for serverless and messaging services: end-to-end ownership of FaaS (Knative + Eventing), managed NATS, and managed RabbitMQ, including architecture, implementation, API, UX, documentation, and operational stability.
• Design and development of the entire delivery flow: operator/integration → API endpoint → CLI command → Terraform resource → documentation.
• Design of scaling and event processing architecture: autoscaling mechanisms, cold start optimization, and event routing between services.
• Platform integrations: connecting services with IAM, billing, and quota systems in cooperation with the Common Services team.
• Co-creation of technical standards: participation in defining best practices, architectural patterns, and the development direction of platform services.
