Java Software Engineer

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with clear business-level English and the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals with a polyglot mindset; proven ability to deliver in more than one language and ecosystem.
• Experience with Java and frameworks such as Spring/Spring Boot is desirable, but not essential. Candidates strong in other languages and motivated to learn Java are welcome.
• Strong grasp of functional, non-blocking, asynchronous programming. Comfort working with modern concurrency models and reactive approaches.
• Hands-on cloud experience. Practical capability designing, building, and operating workloads in the cloud.
• Strong testing approach selection skills. Sound judgement applying the right testing techniques for the context (unit, integration, contract, end-to-end).
• Performance testing knowledge (nice to have). Familiarity with performance test design, execution, and interpretation of results.
• API security at scale experience (beneficial).
• Knowledge of securing high-volume APIs, including authentication, authorisation, and threat mitigation.
• High attention to detail. Consistent focus on quality, accuracy, and maintainability.

• Design, develop and maintain cloud-based applications using Java.
• Review proposed solutions to ensure alignment with CTO Platforms objectives and standards.
• Champion high standards in software engineering, including code quality, security, and maintainability.
• Deliver appropriate, comprehensive automated testing as part of every change (unit, integration, and regression where applicable).
• Approach technical challenges with an open collaborative mindset.
• Take initiative to improve the developer experience and efficiency.
• Provide guidance, coaching, and technical support to less experienced colleagues.
