Asana is hiring a Tech Lead for their Platform Reliability Engineering team based in Warsaw. The role focuses on technical leadership, architecture, and long-term engineering strategy for core platform systems that ensure reliability and resilience at scale.


Wymagania

  • Strong software engineering background with comfort in writing production code and system design.
  • 8+ years of experience building and operating backend systems at scale.
  • Experience leading technical projects and influencing cross-team direction.
  • Ability to improve others through clarity, feedback, and raising technical standards without formal authority.
  • Familiarity with distributed systems patterns including backpressure, graceful degradation, and capacity planning.
  • Experience with major cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure), Terraform, and monitoring tools like Datadog.
  • Experience defining and working within explicit reliability and performance targets for production systems.
  • Clear communication and strong collaboration skills.
  • Curiosity about AI tools and emerging technologies with willingness to learn and leverage them.
  • This is a software engineering role; primarily scripting, dashboards, or operational playbooks experience is not a fit.

Obowiązki

  • Set technical direction for the team, ensuring the right problems are solved in the right way.
  • Design and build core platform systems such as load shedding, circuit breakers, and rate limiting to protect Asana at scale.
  • Own critical platform concerns like ingress and egress, shaping traffic flow through systems.
  • Define stable interfaces and libraries for other platform teams.
  • Lead end-to-end projects from scoping and design through rollout, collaborating across multiple platform teams.
  • Raise technical quality through code reviews, design discussions, and mentorship.
  • Partner with infrastructure teams to embed reliability as a core design constraint.
  • Debug complex issues across the stack and ensure they do not recur.

This role is based in the Warsaw office with a hybrid schedule: in-office on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday; work from home on Wednesday; Friday work-from-home depends on work type and recruiter guidance. The employment contract is a Contract of Employment (UoP) for employees in Poland.
