AI Tech Lead

Senior AI Engineer / Tech Lead will serve as the technical anchor for a new AI-driven module within a European health‑tech platform used by more than 2.5 million users across Europe. The module is the first in a series of certified Medical Device Class IIa AI specialists and will be implemented on a healthcare‑specific LLM platform. This is a hands‑on role combining daily production engineering with technical leadership of the AI architecture, integration and orchestration.

• Minimum 8 years of hands‑on software engineering experience, including at least 3 years focused on production AI and LLM applications.
• Strong proficiency in Python as the primary language for building AI services, RAG pipelines, agents and orchestration.
• Proven experience integrating with LLM APIs and SDKs in production environments.
• Demonstrable practical experience in prompt engineering, RAG architectures and LLM orchestration patterns.
• Experience with agentic AI frameworks for multi‑step reasoning, tool usage and conversational agents in production.
• Ability to read, navigate and collaborate within a .NET/C# codebase; design clean Python‑to‑.NET API contracts and work with the in‑house .NET team.
• Experience leading or co‑leading architecture for production AI systems and making trade‑off decisions.
• Solid software engineering fundamentals: API design, automated testing, version control and CI/CD practices.
• Strong communication skills; ability to lead architecture discussions and explain technical trade‑offs to non‑technical stakeholders.
• Fluent English (working language of the team).

Nice to have:

• Prior hands‑on experience with healthcare‑specific AI platforms.
• Experience in regulated industries (healthtech/medtech).
• Familiarity with MDR, the EU AI Act or quality management for AI systems.
• Knowledge of Azure AI services and Azure DevOps.

• Develop production code daily for RAG pipelines, orchestration, prompt engineering and agent workflows.
• Own integration with the healthcare LLM platform (LLM, ASR, agentic framework) primarily via REST APIs and Python tooling.
• Design and implement the orchestration layer as a suite of Python services handling routing, multi‑step reasoning, agent workflows and fallback strategies.
• Create a reusable internal prompt engineering and prompt management library.
• Define clear API contracts between Python AI services and the .NET/Angular platform running on Azure; collaborate closely with the .NET team.
• Lead architecture decisions across the AI stack and act as the senior technical interlocutor with external technical counterparts.
• Support MDR‑compliant human‑in‑the‑loop workflows, including clinician portal integration and dual‑chat architectures.
• Contribute to AI Act alignment and quality management activities in support of existing ISO 27001 and ISO 27701 certifications.
• Pair with a second Senior AI Engineer focused on evaluation and quality and serve as the in‑house technical authority on AI matters.
