Senior Backend Engineer (Java, Kafka Ecosystem)

• Strong expertise in Java / JVM, including performance tuning and memory management
• Solid understanding of distributed systems, reliability, and scalability principles
• Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka, including Kafka Connect ecosystem
• Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills across infrastructure and applications
• Experience with build systems and dependency management (e.g., Maven, Gradle)

Nice to have:

• Experience with CDC systems such as Apache Iceberg or Debezium
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (GCP preferred)
• Experience with Go and backend service development
• Understanding of SRE practices and operational readiness (monitoring, alerting, incident response)
• Experience working with open-source projects or large-scale platform environments

• Develop and onboard new Kafka connectors (source & sink)
• Integrate open-source connectors into internal infrastructure
• Improve performance, reliability, and scalability (e.g., fix bottlenecks, OOM issues)
• Adapt connectors to work with cloud authentication and networking
• Participate in testing, load validation, and production readiness processes
• Collaborate on API and platform-level improvements
