Senior Cloud Connectivity Engineer

Cloud Unit delivers Cloud services to Bayer worldwide. It is an enterprise grade solution running on major cloud providers - Google Cloud, AWS, and Azure, called SMART.

• Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field, or equivalent practical experience as an IT network engineer.
• At least 6 years of experience in networking (both classic and cloud).
• At least 4 years of experience in AWS; experience with other clouds is a plus.
• Deep understanding of routing, switching, firewalls, load balancing, and SD-WAN.
• Proficiency in IT architecture and design, specifically in infrastructure automation, provisioning, and maintenance.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues effectively under pressure.
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Strong proficiency in Python.
• Experience with Linux command line tools and shell scripting.
• Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., Grafana) and troubleshooting tools (e.g., Wireshark).
• Experience building IT systems in highly regulated environments.
• Knowledge of CI/CD processes and experience deploying infrastructure as IaC using GitHub Repos and GitHub Actions.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment, respecting diverse perspectives and fostering teamwork.

Nice to have:

• Certification in networking: CCNP or AWS Advanced Networking.
• Experience with Kubernetes or container networking, especially EKS and AKS.
• Experience with network performance optimization.
• Familiarity with network security practices.

• Planning and managing network connecting cloud environments (intra-cloud) and on-premises.
• Mentoring a team of engineers, providing guidance and support in implementing networking solutions.
• Collaborating with Squad Leads and other stakeholders to understand requirements and align integration strategies with business goals.
• Ensuring solutions are scalable, reliable, maintainable, and secure, adhering to best practices in IT architecture and Bayer’s strategy.
• Creating, maintaining, and reviewing comprehensive documentation for processes, standards, and best practices.
• Fostering open communication and collaboration among diverse teams across different geographical locations.
