Tech Lead

BALTICON S.A. is a Polish logistics and trading company operating for over 35 years for the largest shipping lines worldwide. The company handles transport, service, sales, and rental of sea containers and operates container depots in Gdynia, Gdańsk, Szczecin, and Warsaw. It operates within the European Union with branches in Poland and Spain and employs over 300 people. In 2023, it launched a new inland container terminal service offering intermodal transport and full container transshipment. Under the brand Eco Containers, it sells and rents sea containers, refrigerated containers, and residential containers, with a production plant in Gdańsk for container modifications.

• Minimum 6 years of experience as a Backend Developer.
• Very good knowledge of PHP and Symfony framework.
• Ability to efficiently create and maintain REST APIs with performance focus.
• Knowledge of MySQL and PostgreSQL databases and effective work with them.
• Ability to write effective unit tests (PHPUnit) and willingness to use AI tools (preferably Claude).
• Knowledge of Docker and basic DevOps knowledge.
• Experience working in CI/CD model understanding deployment automation benefits.
• Emphasis on clean, testable, and maintainable code following best practices.
• Willingness to work with legacy code, quickly analyze and refactor it using LLM models.
• Independence and readiness to take the technical leader role and naturally implement and promote AI tools in daily team work.
• Very good communication skills to clearly talk with development team and other departments.
• English language proficiency at minimum B2 level for smooth work and code documentation.

• Serve as a technical leader in the backend area.
• Design and develop new functionalities mainly based on the Symfony framework.
• Maintain and refactor existing (legacy) code using AI tools (e.g., Claude) for rapid technical debt analysis.
• Create and document REST APIs.
• Collaborate with frontend team, QA, designers, and PM.
• Write unit tests and ensure code quality, including effective work in AI-assisted development using the Claude model.
• Support the team in best engineering practices and educate on safe and effective use of AI assistants (Claude).
• Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and architectural decisions.
• Communicate with employees providing technical advice and explaining complex issues.
• Implement CI/CD processes in cooperation with DevOps.
