QA Performance Engineer (IoT sphere)

Project Description: Primary function is to contribute to a framework that automates performance testing of CGI Middleware Service Layer powering the myQ platform using JMeter. The role may also include Quality Assurance related activities including but not limited to: Performance Testing execution and reporting, framework maintenance and enhancement, and working closely with DevOps Engineers and Developers to ensure backend, API, and microservices performance meets and exceeds expectations. This is a growth role on a critical engagement, supported by senior performance engineers, that helps Coherent drive proper QA performance best practices and strengthen trust with the client.

• 1+ year of experience in QA, manual or automation
• Basic understanding of performance testing concepts (load, stress, soak, spike testing; throughput, response time, percentiles)
• Hands-on exposure to JMeter (recording scripts, parameterization, assertions, basic test plan structure)
• Basic knowledge of Java and object-oriented programming
• Understanding of REST APIs and HTTP (methods, status codes, headers, JSON payloads)
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum software development process
• Good verbal and written English (B2 as a must)
• Solid analytical and problem-solving skills
• Curiosity and willingness to learn performance engineering under guidance of senior engineers
• Ability to read and interpret graphs, dashboards, and basic system metrics (CPU, memory, response time, throughput)
• Attention to detail when designing test scenarios and reporting results
• Good communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with developers, DevOps engineers, and QA
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage workload in a dynamic environment

Nice to have:

• Exposure to observability and APM tools (Grafana, Datadog, CloudWatch)
• Basic understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins)
• Basic Linux command-line skills
• Understanding of microservices architecture
• Familiarity with home automation technologies / IoT
• English B2 or higher

• Execute performance, load, stress, and soak tests against myQ backend, REST APIs, and microservices using JMeter
• Develop and maintain JMeter test scripts under guidance of senior performance engineers
• Contribute to the performance testing framework by adding new scenarios, reusable components, and data sets
• Analyze test results, build reports, and identify performance bottlenecks together with developers and DevOps engineers
• Read dashboards and logs in observability tools (Grafana, Datadog) to support root cause analysis
• Document test plans, scenarios, and results in a clear and reproducible way
• Participate in Agile ceremonies (planning, refinement, retrospectives) and daily communication with the team
• Collaborate with developers, DevOps engineers, and QA peers to ensure performance criteria are met before release
• Continuously improve technical skills in performance engineering, JMeter, and cloud-based system performance through self-learning, training, and knowledge sharing
