Squad Lead

Sunbit, FinTech, builds financial technology for real life. Their technology provides flexible payment options through a next-generation, no-fee credit card managed via a mobile app and a point-of-sale payment option available at over 25,000 service locations including auto dealership service centers, optical practices, dentist offices, veterinary clinics, and specialty healthcare services.

• 4+ years of leadership experience guiding engineering teams and making architectural decisions.
• 5+ years of software engineering experience with a strong focus on scalable architecture and system design.
• Very strong backend expertise: Kotlin/Java preferred stack; .NET acceptable (requires learning curve); Python possible.
• Proficiency in modern system architecture with large-scale and high performance.
• Impact driven, using data to ensure every task moves the needle and maximizes team impact.
• Strong communication skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Creative, solution-oriented, able to work efficiently under pressure and uncertainty, and adapt quickly to changing business needs.
• Familiarity with microservices architecture and distributed systems.
• B.Sc. in Computer Science or equivalent.
• Fluent in English.

Preferred Experience:

• Experience with software development in Kotlin or Java.
• Experience with Front End technologies.
• Experience with mobile technologies.
• Leading a multidisciplinary team.
• Familiarity with microservices architecture and distributed systems.
• Solid understanding of AWS or similar cloud platforms.
• Expertise in the Spring Framework.
• Proficient in both relational (e.g., MySQL) and non-relational databases (e.g., MongoDB).
• Familiarity with message queue technologies such as Kafka, SQS, RabbitMQ, or similar.
• Experience with AI development tools like Cursor and Claude Code.

• Lead the technical architecture and system design for core products and services within your domain.
• Guide a multidisciplinary squad of frontend, backend, and data engineers through implementation, delivery, and iteration.
• Work closely with product managers and business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Ensure development aligns with business objectives, long-term system health, and team's engineering standards.
• Conduct and lead design reviews, code reviews, and performance optimization efforts.
• Drive a culture of technical excellence, ownership, and continuous improvement.
• Oversee system reliability, monitoring, and incident response within your domain.
