Senior Software Engineer-Serverless & Messaging

CloudFerro is a provider of cloud data processing services supporting specialized markets including the European space industry, climate research, and science. It has extensive experience in storing and processing large data sets, including multi-petabyte Earth observation satellite data repositories. Its solutions are used by leading European companies and scientific institutions such as the European Space Agency (ESA), EUMETSAT, and the German Aerospace Agency (DLR).

• Experience working with Kubernetes, including designing, building, or operating complex production clusters.
• Hands-on experience with distributed systems, including architecture design and service-to-service communication.
• Strong knowledge of Go and good knowledge of Python for building operators, controllers, APIs, and CLI tools.
• Ability to build integrations and API wrappers using REST or gRPC and work with existing frameworks.
• Comfort with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code and Copilot as part of daily engineering work.

Nice to have:

• Experience with Knative, especially serving, eventing, autoscaling, and cold-start optimization.
• Knowledge of RabbitMQ, NATS, or Apache Kafka in event-driven architecture and event-flow design.
• Experience with serverless platforms and FaaS patterns like OpenFaaS, AWS Lambda, or Cloud Functions.
• Experience building Terraform providers or custom resources.
• Experience at a cloud provider working on platform services or infrastructure.
• Open-source contributions, especially within the CNCF ecosystem.

• Full ownership of serverless and messaging services: end-to-end responsibility for FaaS (Knative + Eventing), managed NATS, and managed RabbitMQ, including architecture, implementation, APIs, UX, documentation, and operational stability.
• Designing and developing the complete delivery pipeline: operator/integration, API endpoint, CLI command, Terraform resource, and documentation.
• Designing event processing and scaling architecture, including autoscaling mechanisms, cold start optimization, and event routing.
• Integrating platform services with IAM, billing, and quota systems in collaboration with the Common Services team.
• Co-creating technical standards by contributing to best practices, architectural patterns, and overall platform service direction.
