Head of Engineering & Product/ Founding Team

Mind Friend is a platform connecting people with licensed clinicians for online therapy, offering search, booking, payments, and live video, audio, and chat sessions. The company focuses on mental health solutions and collaborates with initiatives like The Cognitive Exchange to integrate psychology into policy making and business decisions. Mind Friend serves individuals and organizations with evidence-based psychological services and aims to create a centralized hub for licensed psychologists to connect with clients and policymakers.

• 8+ years of software development experience with senior or lead engineering roles.
• Experience carrying real product responsibility beyond executing specifications.
• Delivered consumer products handling real payments and sensitive personal data.
• Background in environments with strict security and data standards (e.g., health-tech, fintech).
• Ability to conduct security reviews and implement necessary controls independently.
• Hands-on operator who leads by doing.
• Experience working directly with non-technical founders.

Bonus qualifications:

• Prior early-stage or founding team experience.
• Marketplace or telehealth domain experience.
• Experience with multi-jurisdiction products.
• Familiarity with SOC 2, ISO 27001, or GDPR compliance.

• Set the launch readiness bar and decide when to launch the platform.
• Ensure reliability of live video, audio, and chat sessions across varied user devices and network conditions.
• Oversee security and privacy controls for sensitive health data, including passing an independent security review before going live.
• Manage end-to-end quality of the booking and payments flow, including failure paths.
• Define product direction after launch, prioritizing features and development.
• Lead and grow the engineering and product team.

Success milestones:

• Own and close out launch readiness, achieving a confident live launch.
• Pass an independent security review with critical issues remediated.
• Validate the full booking-to-session flow across real devices and networks.
• Transition the platform from freelance-built to maintainable codebase with a dedicated team.
• Establish scalable delivery cadence and engineering/product processes.
• Set and execute the post-launch roadmap.
