Database Engineer (SQL Server & Azure)

Lufthansa Systems Poland is a provider of IT solutions and services for the aeronautical, logistic, and financial industries. It is part of the Lufthansa Group and implements technological solutions and dedicated services.

• Minimum 2 years of experience in database administration or database engineering.
• Strong SQL skills and practical experience in query optimization and performance tuning.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server and Azure Database services.
• Good understanding of backup, recovery and disaster recovery concepts.
• Experience with monitoring tools or building custom monitoring solutions.
• Basic knowledge of Windows, Linux and TCP/IP networking.
• Understanding of database security, auditing, RBAC and Microsoft Entra ID.
• Good command of spoken and written English (B2 / C1).
• Readiness to work in a hybrid model: 2 days in the office in Gdańsk.

Nice to have:

• Experience with PowerShell, Python or Unix shell scripting.
• Knowledge of Azure networking.
• Experience with hybrid cloud environments.
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code concepts and automation.
• Azure Database Administrator Associate (DP-300) certification or equivalent practical experience.

• Manage, optimize and continuously improve SQL Server and Azure Database environments.
• Monitor database performance, analyze execution plans and fine-tune queries for optimal efficiency.
• Design, implement and maintain backup, high availability and disaster recovery solutions.
• Develop and enhance monitoring capabilities to improve observability and proactive issue detection.
• Support end-to-end database migrations, including planning, execution, validation and troubleshooting.
• Implement and maintain database security standards using RBAC and Microsoft Entra ID.
• Investigate and resolve production incidents, performance issues and complex technical challenges.
• Contribute to automation and operational improvements using scripting and tooling.
