Manager, Engineering

Allegro is hiring an Engineering Manager for the Vento product team, which manages the lifecycle of clickstream event contracts. Vento provides a centralized framework for defining, validating, monitoring, routing, and consuming event data, supporting Allegro's data and AI ecosystem. The role is based in Warsaw or Poznan and involves working within a fully Polish-speaking team.

• Proven experience managing engineering teams with a strong hands-on engineering background.
• Broad technical knowledge across Big Data (Python, Scala, Spark), Backend (Java, Kotlin), and Frontend (Angular).
• Proactive in identifying issues, bottlenecks, or risks.
• Native or fluent Polish speaker and English proficiency at minimum B2 level.
• Willingness to participate in on-call rotation (24/7 weekend/night standby).

People leadership & growth:

• Coaching, mentoring, and supporting a multidisciplinary team of 5-6 engineers, ensuring their well-being and professional growth.

Architectural & business alignment:

• Maintain a holistic view of the technical architecture, ensuring engineering solutions align with business context and platform goals.

Technical guidance:

• Support and guide the team in leveraging AI-assisted coding and AI-based user support.

Stakeholder management:

• Collaborate closely with business consumers (Marketing, Loyalty, Sales) and technical stakeholders, including Data Assets teams and the Data Platform Product Manager.

Product management:

• Lead the creation of the vision for Vento with the team, users, and stakeholders, implementing best product management practices.

System reliability:

• Support the team's on-call rotation to ensure 24/7 stability of the event processing pipeline.
