Senior Customer Integration Engineer

Focal Systems is a Silicon Valley based startup specializing in retail AI solutions using deep learning computer vision. The company has been deployed at scale with top global retailers and has a strong engineering team located in Poland.

• 4+ years of hybrid experience writing production code and working directly with external stakeholders.
• Strong Python skills, including Pandas and NumPy, with an API-first mindset.
• Systems thinking to decompose complex distributed systems and customer problems.
• Solid SQL and data work experience including diagnostic queries, ETL, and data transformation pipelines.
• Working knowledge of distributed systems such as Kafka, async pipelines, and caching layers.
• Clear technical communication skills to explain root causes to non-technical customers and detailed problems to engineers.

Nice to have:

• Experience with GCP, Kubernetes, or Helm (reading configs and logs, not managing infrastructure).

• Own customer problems end-to-end and close the loop without waiting for assignment.
• Lead high-quality deployments and bring new customers live by mapping their data formats and validating pipelines.
• Manage live production configurations including granular store configurations and feature flags.
• Build tooling to automate and speed up deployment processes.
• Work directly with customers to explain issues, own fixes, and close the loop.
• Use tools such as Jira, Confluence, GitHub, Git, Agile, and Scrum.
