Senior Backend Python Engineer (Core Gateway) - Relocation to Cyprus

We're powering the growth of merchants by helping them take payments easily, securely and globally.

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience with strong Python mastery (AsyncIO and FastAPI preferred).
• Experience with Perl or willingness to learn and work within Perl production code.
• Solid experience integrating third-party APIs and understanding of webhooks, callbacks, and retry policies.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitLab preferred), Docker containerization, and familiarity with AWS (Lambda, cloud services).
• Exposure to event-driven architectures such as Kafka and message queues.
• Advocate for clean and intentional code with the ability to explain code reasoning.
• Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Interest in product functionality and business impact.

• Support and extend the existing Perl-based payment gateway by debugging production issues and adding features during migration.
• Design, develop, and maintain modern server-side components in Python ensuring high performance and scalability.
• Integrate third-party APIs and external payment services into both legacy and modern platform layers.
• Maintain clear English communication to collaborate with multiple stakeholders across departments in agile sprints.
• Apply a product-focused mindset to understand business logic and user impact.
• Participate in code reviews and uphold high code quality standards.
• Collaborate with DevOps on CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and cloud deployments.

This is a fully remote role for candidates based in Poland. Candidates open to relocation to Cyprus will receive specific working arrangements and conditions during the recruitment process.
