Senior Cloud Network Engineer (SDN / OpenStack)

Square One Resources is recruiting for a Senior / Lead SDN Network Engineer to join a team developing a modern cloud infrastructure platform. The role involves working on software-defined networking (SDN) layers, developing OpenStack ecosystem components, and creating network solutions for cloud environments.

• Commercial experience with Open vSwitch (OVS) and OVN
• Strong knowledge of networking in cloud environments including VPC, NAT, VPN, BGP, VXLAN, load balancing, and DNS
• Strong knowledge of Linux networking including network namespaces, iptables/nftables, tc, and kernel networking mechanisms
• Experience integrating SDN with OpenStack Neutron
• Programming skills in one or more of: Go, C/C++, Python, Bash
• Knowledge of Kubernetes networking and CNI (e.g., Calico)
• English language proficiency sufficient for working with documentation and an international team

Nice to have:

• Experience with DPDK
• Knowledge of eBPF / XDP
• Experience in open source projects
• Practical use of AI tools in daily work

• Design, develop, and maintain the SDN layer for cloud infrastructure
• Develop and integrate OpenStack components, especially Neutron, Nova, and Cinder
• Work with technologies such as Open vSwitch (OVS) and OVN
• Design and develop infrastructure APIs in Go
• Create automation for operational and network processes
• Develop observability solutions including metrics, distributed tracing, and structured logging
• Analyze and resolve network issues (Root Cause Analysis)
• Collaborate on open source projects related to OpenStack, OVN, Open vSwitch, and Linux Kernel
