Software Engineer

Bayer is hiring a Software Engineer to work on international projects within small teams. The role involves working with modern technologies in frontend, backend, and DevOps/infrastructure domains.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or related field
• 3+ years experience as a software engineer
• Experience with React 18+, Python, and NodeJS
• Understanding of JavaScript frameworks and rendering patterns
• Component and visual testing experience
• Experience with REST and GraphQL APIs
• Knowledge of security best practices including authentication and authorization
• Experience with serverless or microservice architectures, managing customer-facing and multi-region APIs, and maintaining data pipelines
• AWS experience
• Experience with containerized environments such as Docker

• Collaborate with others to review user stories and code and develop implementation approaches
• Design, code, test, and document programs or scripts of medium-to-high complexity using appropriate standards and tools
• Translate logical designs into physical designs and produce detailed designs
• Document all work using required standards, methods, and tools
• Design systems with managed risk, complexity, and meaningful impact
• Build and test simple interfaces between systems and work on complex integrations as part of a wider team
• Apply modern standards approaches and guide others
• Maintain strong understanding of information security and design solutions with embedded security controls
• Approach prototyping as a team activity, establish and iterate design patterns
• Help fix faults following agreed procedures and carry out maintenance tasks on infrastructure
• Collaborate with user researchers and represent users internally
• Manage service components to meet business needs and performance targets
