Full Stack (Java & React) Technical Lead

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience with at least 2 years in a technical leadership role.
• Deep backend development experience in Java (Spring Boot) or equivalent.
• Frontend experience with React or equivalent.
• Knowledge of microservices architecture, service boundary design, API versioning, and distributed system patterns.
• Experience with REST API design at production scale.
• Kubernetes-aware service design knowledge.
• Familiarity with CI/CD and GitOps deployment models.
• Agile delivery leadership experience.
• Experience in regulated industries such as insurance, finance, or healthcare.
• Strong communication skills for technical discussions and documentation.

Nice to Have:

• Insurance or financial services domain knowledge.
• Experience integrating AI or ML services into production.
• Event-driven architecture experience with Kafka or equivalent.
• Cloud certifications such as AZ-204 or AZ-305.
• Experience leading distributed or multi-vendor engineering teams.

Architecture and Technical Direction:

• Own application architecture including service decomposition, API design, data models, event schemas, and integration patterns.
• Make durable architectural decisions and communicate them clearly.
• Manage technical debt and schedule remediation.
• Define and enforce technical standards for the team.
• Work within deployment and containerisation standards and influence changes.

Delivery Leadership:

• Translate business requirements into technical designs and lead estimation.
• Identify and communicate technical risks and propose mitigations.
• Collaborate with Scrum Master on sprint planning.
• Represent engineering in architecture and sprint reviews.
• Interface with central platform engineering on technical matters.

Team and Code Quality:

• Own the code review process and lead by example.
• Mentor mid-level and senior engineers.
• Build a culture of ownership, quality, and continuous improvement.
• Onboard new engineers to codebase and standards.

Collaboration:

• Collaborate with frontend Tech Leads and domain teams on API contracts.
• Work with Product Owner on roadmap planning.
• Communicate clearly across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
