Software Engineer

Microsoft's Azure Data engineering team develops a portfolio of data platform products including Microsoft Fabric, Azure SQL DB, Azure Cosmos DB, Azure PostgreSQL, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Service Bus, Azure Event Grid, and Power BI. The messaging and real-time analytics team provides solutions for ingesting high granularity signals and complex data to enable real-time competitive advantages. The Fabric Activator team focuses on cloud infrastructure supporting over 50 microservices across more than 40 Azure regions.

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Proven coding experience in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.

Preferred/Additional Qualifications:

• 1+ year technical engineering experience with coding in the above languages or equivalent.
• Distributed systems development and deployment experience with cloud services such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
• Experience with large-scale software engineering.

Other & Additional:

• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, including passing the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire and every two years thereafter.

Job Responsibilities:

• Build and evolve core backend services and cross-cutting infrastructure for scalable and resilient systems.
• Automate DevOps workflows and operational tasks to improve efficiency and reduce manual overhead.
• Enhance system monitoring, observability, and reliability to ensure robust production performance.
• Contribute to centralized codebases delivering high-quality, maintainable solutions adhering to engineering standards.
• Participate in security posture improvement programs across the Azure fleet.
• Be part of the on-call rotation to respond to and mitigate live site issues.
• Identify and use appropriate AI tools and practices across the software development lifecycle.
