Platform DevOps/SRE Engineer

CloudFerro develops technologies used daily by European leaders in science and the space sector, including ESA, EUMETSAT, ECMWF, Mercator Ocean International, DLR, and EGI. The company works closely with the Earth Observation sector to support analyses and better understanding of our planet. The team is building a sovereign European cloud platform from scratch, providing a complete PaaS stack based on Kubernetes and open source technologies, including serverless, managed databases, MLOps, monitoring, and observability. The role involves designing the platform's foundations with full ownership of architectural decisions, aiming to create a real alternative to global hyperscalers.

• Practical experience in DevOps, SRE, or platform engineering.
• Good knowledge of Kubernetes: deployments, operations, troubleshooting.
• Practical experience with GitOps (ArgoCD/Flux) and observability stack (Prometheus/Grafana, Loki/OpenSearch).
• Good knowledge of Go and Python.
• Willingness to learn and quickly engage in new operational areas.
• Proficient use of AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code, Copilot).

Nice to have:

• Experience building CI/CD pipelines including integration tests and ephemeral environments.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
• Experience with etcd operations: backup/restore, monitoring.
• Knowledge of distributed tracing: OpenTelemetry, Jaeger, Tempo.
• Experience defining SLO/SLI.
• Experience with incident response and post-mortem culture.

• Build and maintain the observability stack: metrics, logs, tracing.
• Support Lead Platform DevOps in cluster operations, GitOps pipeline, and CI/CD.
• Independently lead projects such as building alerting strategies, SLO/SLI frameworks, and ephemeral test environments.
• Participate in on-call rotation and incident response.
• Perform capacity planning and performance monitoring.
• Automate platform operations.
