Software Engineer

We are Tesco, a technology team of over 4,000 experts across 5 countries: UK, Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic, and India. The team focuses on solving problems at a global scale by taking strategic ownership of architecture, design, testing, deployment, infrastructure, operation, and security of systems to ensure agile, smooth, and safe operations with maximum business impact.

• Minimum 4 years of experience developing with Java 11+
• Experience working with Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban)
• Experience in test driven development
• Experience designing and developing microservices / REST APIs
• Good English communication skills

Nice to have:

• Experience with Azure or other cloud solutions
• Exposure to React

• Write, review and contribute code as part of the store distribution engineering team
• Design, propose and review architecture design for software applications and services
• Focus on performance, availability, reliability, and security of systems
• Develop cross-platform, lightweight and mobile-first progressive web applications
• Contribute to the definition of features for services owned by your team
• Effectively communicate progress to team members, manager and wider Tesco colleagues
• Support increased automation within depots to improve efficiency
• Develop modern applications to support colleagues drive better business outcomes
• Shape the future of Tesco’s Autonomous Mobile Robot adoption in fresh food depots
• Work with Java microservices exposed via React applications and REST APIs
• Use Kafka as a messaging backbone for strategic analytics
• Deploy applications to AKS, virtual machines or internal Kubernetes platform
• Use Terraform to create infrastructure as code
• Operate in DevOps philosophy – take responsibility through entire lifecycle
