Senior Java Engineer (Trading Systems)

Vistulo is recruiting for a major North American bank to work on trading systems including equities, options, and FX. The role involves building ultra-low-latency, high-performance backend services for algorithmic order management and order routing across multiple asset classes. The position is fully remote for residents of Poland and is part of the core development team maintaining and enhancing actively developed trading systems.

• Current Java programming experience with strong understanding of algorithms, complexity, multi-threading, and Java standard libraries.
• Good knowledge of data structures and the Java collections framework.
• Proven experience building backend services for front-office trading systems.
• Deep understanding of front-office workflows and electronic trading platforms.
• Experience with algorithmic order management or order routing systems.
• Expertise in multi-threading, event-driven systems, and performance tuning.
• Ability to break down complex workflows into maintainable, high-quality solutions.
• Strong communication skills and comfort working in trader-facing environments.
• Knowledge required for building low-latency (microseconds) trading systems.
• Ability to align work schedule with a 6-hour overlap with US Eastern business hours.

Nice to have:

• Exposure to time-series databases and market data integration.
• Familiarity with algorithmic workflows and pricing engines.
• A computer science degree from a top Polish school.

• Design and implement robust software solutions for equities and FX trading systems using core Java.
• Build high-performance backend services that algorithmically manage and route orders.
• Create thorough test cases to ensure software stability and reliability.
• Collaborate with operations teams to build new features and improve existing functionality.
