Cobol Engineer (Linux/Unix)

• 4+ years of professional experience as a COBOL Engineer or COBOL Developer
• Strong knowledge of COBOL, Embedded SQL, Shell Scripting (Bash/KornShell), and SQL
• Practical experience working with Linux/Unix environments (RHEL, AIX, Solaris)
• Experience with IBM Db2 and/or Oracle Database
• Familiarity with Git, Jenkins, Control-M, and Ansible
• Experience with IBM MQ and REST/SOAP integrations
• Strong analytical thinking and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to work independently within complex enterprise environments
• Very good English skills
• German language skills at B2 level are a significant asset

Nice to have:

• Experience with German Capital Gains Tax, Withholding Tax, or Securities Tax Processing
• Experience with Corporate Actions (Mandatory & Voluntary Events)
• Experience in Securities Processing, Settlement, Custody Operations
• Knowledge of SWIFT ISO 15022 / ISO 20022 messaging (MT56x / MX)
• Experience with Clearstream Banking and/or Euroclear
• Knowledge of Equities, Bonds, Investment Funds, and Derivatives
• Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as MiFID II, CSDR, FATCA, or CRS

• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade COBOL applications running on Unix/Linux platforms
• Develop new functionalities and enhance mission-critical banking applications
• Work with Embedded SQL and optimize database interactions using IBM Db2 and Oracle Database
• Develop and maintain Shell scripts (Bash/KornShell) supporting automation and operational processes
• Analyze production issues, perform root cause analysis, and resolve complex technical incidents
• Collaborate with business analysts, architects, and international engineering teams
• Support software delivery processes using Git, Jenkins, Control-M, and Ansible
• Integrate enterprise applications using IBM MQ and REST/SOAP APIs
• Ensure application performance, stability, and reliability
• Contribute to continuous improvement and modernization initiatives across the platform
