Technical Lead (JVM Platform)

Upvanta is developing one of the most advanced platforms for developers worldwide, focusing on an ecosystem of developer tools supporting millions of users and enabling modern work environments including remote development solutions.

• Minimum 7 years of experience in system and platform architecture design and making key architectural decisions for complex products or solutions.
• Strong knowledge of JVM and concurrency.
• Proficiency in Kotlin and Kotlin Coroutines.
• Experience working with large monorepos and conducting complex refactorings.
• Ability to design APIs and produce high-quality technical documentation.
• Strong system thinking and ability to assess long-term consequences of architectural decisions.
• Very good English language skills.

• Experience creating developer tools.
• Knowledge of various UI frameworks.
• Understanding of internal database system architectures.
• Experience in building network systems.
• Experience managing distributed (remote) engineering teams and working in international environments.

• Develop and maintain an ecosystem of internal and external extensions (plugins) for remote development environments and UI tooling.
• Design and maintain stable, minimal, and consistent platform APIs.
• Create technical documentation and define API deprecation processes.
• Modernize and rebuild key platform components to adapt to contemporary work models, including distributed and remote environments.
• Collaborate with engineering and product teams to define platform architecture and development direction.
• Lead and execute large-scale technical initiatives impacting the platform.
