Data ops Engineer

• Experience troubleshooting ETL/ELT pipelines, APIs, and data workflows.
• Experience with monitoring, observability, incident management, and operational support frameworks.
• Understanding of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) governance and deployment controls.
• 5+ years working within Data Engineering, Data Operations, Platform Engineering, DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or Production Support roles.
• Experience supporting enterprise-scale Data Platforms in Production environments.
• Proven experience managing Production deployments and release governance.
• Experience working with cloud-based data technologies such as Snowflake, Databricks, and DBT.
• Experience working within Agile delivery environments.
• Demonstrated experience supporting business-critical data products and analytics solutions.
• Experience driving operational excellence, incident management, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Nice to Have:

• Exposure to Power BI administration and deployment processes.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
• Experience with Data Quality and Data Observability frameworks.
• Exposure to Data Streaming technologies.
• Experience with Azure cloud services.
• Knowledge of Data Catalog and Metadata Management solutions.
• Experience with platform cost optimization and FinOps practices.
• Experience within Financial Services, Asset Management, Private Equity, Accounting, Financial Performance Management, FP&A, or similar domains.
• Experience supporting reporting and analytics platforms such as Power BI.
• Exposure to regulatory, audit, and governance requirements in financial organizations.
• Knowledge of investment, finance, or corporate performance management data domains.

Data Platform Operations:

• Own the day-to-day operational support of the Permira Data Platform.
• Monitor platform health, performance, availability, and operational KPIs.
• Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve production incidents across the platform technology stack.
• Coordinate root cause analysis activities and drive permanent resolution of recurring issues.
• Ensure platform stability, reliability, security, and operational resilience.
• Manage platform maintenance activities, upgrades, and operational readiness.

Production Change Governance:

• Act as the final operational gatekeeper for all Production deployments.
• Review and approve code promotions into Production environments.
• Validate deployment readiness against established quality, testing, security, and governance standards.
• Ensure appropriate testing evidence, deployment plans, rollback procedures, and documentation exist prior to Production approval.
• Govern emergency fixes and Production hotfix procedures.
• Maintain adherence to change management and release management standards.

DevOps & SDLC Ownership:

• Champion the continuous improvement of Permira's Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
• Promote DevOps best practices across Data Engineering and Data Platform teams.
• Drive improvements in CI/CD pipelines, release automation, testing frameworks, and deployment processes.
• Establish and maintain deployment standards, operational runbooks, and support procedures.
• Ensure development, test, and Production environments remain aligned with platform standards and governance requirements.
• Promote engineering best practices to improve platform reliability, supportability, and maintainability.

Monitoring, Observability & Support:

• Define and maintain platform monitoring, alerting, and observability capabilities.
• Proactively identify platform risks, performance bottlenecks, and operational inefficiencies.
• Coordinate issue triage and incident response activities.
• Drive continuous improvement through operational metrics, service reviews, and platform health assessments.
• Support capacity planning and platform optimization initiatives.

Stakeholder & IT Operations Engagement:

• Serve as the primary operational contact for the wider IT Operations organization.
• Act as the main point of contact for business stakeholders regarding Data Platform operational matters.
• Provide operational status reporting, incident communications, and service updates.
• Collaborate closely with Data Engineers, Architects, QA Engineers, Infrastructure Teams, Security Teams, and external support providers where applicable.
• Facilitate operational readiness reviews for new platform capabilities and deployments.

Documentation & Governance:

• Maintain operational documentation, support procedures, deployment guides, and runbooks.
• Ensure technical solutions are appropriately documented within approved repositories and Data Catalog platforms.
• Contribute to platform governance standards, operational policies, and support frameworks.
• Support audit, compliance, risk management, and control activities where required.
• Ensure knowledge transfer and operational handover processes are followed for new platform capabilities.
