Senior Shopify Developer

Hilo by Aktiia is a venture-backed med-tech scale-up focused on developing technology to help people control high blood pressure, the world's most common disease. Their medically accurate, cuffless continuous blood pressure monitor is validated through clinical trials and CE Marked as a Class IIa medical device, available in 12 countries. The company is hybrid/remote-first with headquarters in Neuchâtel, Switzerland.

• Extensive hands-on experience developing Shopify storefronts, including Liquid, Shopify APIs, Shopify Functions, and custom app development.
• Experience integrating Shopify with third-party platforms such as ERP, OMS, or fulfilment systems; experience with Celigo, NetSuite, or Amazon is highly valued.
• Solid understanding of APIs, system integrations, and data flows; ability to troubleshoot production issues independently.
• Comfortable working across frontend while understanding the backend architecture of a modern Shopify ecosystem.
• Ability to occasionally contribute to the Java tech stack.
• Experience delivering production-ready software with strong focus on testing, code quality, and maintainability.
• Strong communication skills in English; ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, product, marketing, and commercial teams.
• Proactive, ownership-driven mindset; solves problems, identifies improvements, and communicates risks early.

Nice to Have:

• Experience with headless commerce architectures.
• Familiarity with Sanity CMS.
• Knowledge of AWS or AWS Lambda.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines.
• Shopify performance optimisation and SEO.
• Exposure to Java-based backend services.

Storefront ownership:

• Own the Shopify storefront end to end, from build to launch, ensuring live and stable operation by US launch date.
• Manage frontend and ongoing business-as-usual work.
• Understand Shopify architecture and best practices.
• Work across frontend and backend as needed.

Integrations:

• Handle Shopify integrations including Celigo, NetSuite, Amazon, and other ERP systems with related data mapping.
• Strong understanding of backend integrations and APIs.
• Undertake backend work on existing Java stack as needed.
• Troubleshoot production issues independently.

Quality and delivery:

• Self-manage quality assurance with thorough testing and careful releases.
• Document technical decisions, architecture, and implementation notes.
• Work independently and communicate clearly, escalating risks early.

This role is fully remote and candidates must be based in Europe.
