Database Engineer / Engineerka (PostgreSQL)

• Excellent knowledge of SQL and PL/pgSQL (PostgreSQL) for working with large databases
• Experience operating on structures with billions of records and terabytes of data
• At least 5 years of experience in the data domain
• Ability to optimize queries and long-duration processes
• Ability to analyze execution plans and detect bottlenecks quickly
• Experience working with stored procedures
• Proficient in Python for maintaining and developing business logic
• Ability to analyze system logs and identify issues
• Knowledge of data partitioning (especially date-based) for optimizing large tables
• Experience with L2 support in production environments
• Fluent English communication skills (B2/C1)

Nice to have:

• Experience with BigQuery, Airflow, and DBT
• Knowledge of cloud databases (especially AWS, Azure)

• Work on projects based on PostgreSQL, data warehouses, and systems processing very large volumes of information
• Join a 5-6 person competency hub in Poland responsible for the project
• Co-develop a critical banking application responsible for revenues management and stock reconciliation
• Manage and optimize PostgreSQL engine including MVCC (Xmin/Xmax), Vacuum processes, and non-standard indexes such as BRIN
• Maintain and develop business logic using Python
• Analyze query execution plans and identify performance bottlenecks
• Optimize queries and long-running processes
• Analyze data and problems from various sources
• Work on level L2 support resolving production environment issues
• Use extensions like pg_stat_statements to identify blocking and bottlenecks
