Senior Backend Test Automation Engineer

This role is in the technology industry and involves working with backend microservices and data platforms.

• Strong experience with backend microservice testing
• Hands-on experience in integration testing in distributed systems
• Experience with Play Framework or JVM-based backend services in Java/Scala
• Good understanding of Apache Spark and testing data pipelines
• Experience validating ETL/data processing workflows
• Comfortable managing test data and dependencies
• Experience with CI/CD and automated testing execution
• Ability to debug failures across multiple services and data systems

Nice to have:

• Experience with integration test frameworks such as ScalaTest, JUnit, and Testcontainers
• Familiarity with Docker/Kubernetes
• Experience with CI/CD tools like GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps

• Test backend microservices rather than web UIs
• Perform integration testing across distributed systems
• Validate ETL and data processing workflows
• Manage test data, data dependencies, and deterministic test environments
• Execute CI/CD automated test executions
• Debug test failures across multiple services, databases, queues, and pipelines
