Senior Software Engineer (Backend): Fiat Integrations

• Strong experience as a backend software engineer with proficiency in Java, Kotlin, or similar JVM-based languages.
• Experience designing, building, and operating microservices in distributed systems.
• Solid understanding of relational databases such as PostgreSQL and event-driven architectures like Kafka and SQS/SNS.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Familiarity with containerisation and orchestration technologies including Docker and Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code concepts and modern CI/CD software delivery practices.
• Experience with observability and reliability tooling including logging, metrics, tracing, and performance optimization.
• Comfortable with Jira, Confluence, and Git-based workflows.
• Strong communication skills to explain technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
• Practical problem-solving approach avoiding over-engineering.

Nice to have:

• Experience in fintech, payments, or banking infrastructure, specifically fiat payment processing, clearing, or settlement.
• Exposure to payment schemes, banking APIs, or multi-rail payment routing and orchestration.
• Experience with stablecoin or cryptocurrency infrastructure and fiat-to-crypto bridging.
• Understanding of domain-driven design and hexagonal architecture patterns.
• Familiarity with reconciliation systems, idempotency patterns, and eventual consistency in financial workflows.
• Experience in high-growth or fast-scaling technology environments.
• Contributions to engineering strategy, hiring, or organizational scaling initiatives.

• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance backend services for fiat payment processing, including transaction orchestration, settlement, and reconciliation.
• Build and evolve integrations with banking partners, payment networks, and financial infrastructure for multi-rail, multi-currency operations.
• Contribute to the architecture and evolution of the fiat processing platform ensuring reliability, fault tolerance, and data consistency.
• Develop and maintain APIs managing transaction lifecycle events such as initiation, status tracking, settlement confirmation, and exception handling.
• Drive improvements in system observability, performance, resilience, including monitoring, alerting, and incident response.
• Collaborate with product, design, and engineering squads to deliver high-impact features.
• Participate in code reviews, architectural discussions, and technical design sessions.
• Mentor peers and champion engineering best practices.
• Participate in an out-of-hours on-call rotation.
