• Seven years or more delivering production backends
• Experience thinking in failure modes, not only the happy path
• Experience shipping genuine LLM systems (RAG, tool-calling, agents) or strong enthusiasm to work on them
• Skilled use of AI coding tools like Claude Code, Cursor, and Copilot with a focus on code quality
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and plans in a startup environment
• At least 6 years experience with Python
• At least 3 years experience with FastAPI
• Experience with PostgreSQL / SQL
• At least 2 years experience with Redis

Nice to have:

• Experience with RAG or vector search
• Familiarity with LangChain or LlamaIndex

• Architect and ship the APIs and services that everything else depends on
• Own the AI plumbing end to end: retrieval, orchestration, tool-calling, streaming, and evaluation of results
• Make asynchronous and distributed workloads robust, including document ingestion, embeddings, and long jobs running on Redis
• Integrate with client systems (email, document stores) and harden these integrations for real-world traffic
• Prioritize data security and isolation for handling confidential client data
