Systems Development Engineer

BorgWarner operates in the automotive electronics systems development domain, focusing on sensors, actuators, and power electronics such as motor drive inverters.

• Masters or Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or similar.
• Experience applying Systems Engineering principles through product life cycle in automotive electronics systems development, especially sensors and actuators or power electronics like motor drive inverters.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of requirements elicitation, analysis, definition, and management; experience with requirement management tools (e.g., Polarion) and process models like A-SPICE.
• Knowledge of embedded software and/or hardware development.
• Knowledge of System modeling in SysML and/or MATLAB Simulink is a benefit.
• Organized and structured work style with attention to detail.
• Fluency in English required; German and/or French advantageous.
• Willingness for occasional domestic and international travel.

• Lead technical development for system features with cross-functional development teams, component leads, and customers.
• Negotiate technical requirements, scope, and subcontract deliverables for system features.
• Drive and disseminate system level requirements and architectural proposals.
• Ensure designs meet requirements and that test quality and coverage are ensured.
• Drive engineering competencies, suppliers, and partners to commit to internal quality processes during development, execution, and verification.
• Lead technical analysis, trade-off studies; support FMEAs, design reviews, and customer presentations.
• Serve as a single point of reference for related change requests and issue investigations.
• Collaborate closely with software, hardware, and testing teams for implementation and verification.
• Support definition and continuous improvement of systems engineering processes, methods, and tools.
• Document and share best practices.
• Mentor less experienced engineers; act as a role model for BorgWarner beliefs.
