Software Development Lead

The role is within the Digital & Technology Team at HEINEKEN Global Shared Services Center, focused on digitalizing and integrating processes to build the future of Heineken. The position is based in Kraków, Poland, in the Commerce DevOps Hub, which engineers software powering e-Commerce for HEINEKEN.

• 8+ years experience as a software development engineer and 3+ years in a lead role
• Hands-on experience and deep knowledge of JavaScript, TypeScript, Next.js, React, Node.js, GraphQL (Apollo Client and Apollo GraphOS), APIs, Azure Cloud, Azure DevOps and pipelines
• Strong understanding of software development principles, coding standards, modern architecture, and DevSecOps practices
• Proven ability to lead diverse software teams of varying sizes
• Experience working on diverse projects with varying technologies, products, and systems
• Strong problem-solving skills and critical technical decision-making ability
• Ability to guide and mentor team members
• Stakeholder engagement and influence skills
• Pragmatic and collaborative team player

Nice to have:

• Experience with headless CMS platforms (e.g. Contentful)
• Knowledge of modular architecture, microservices, micro frontends
• Experience with automation testing tools like Selenium, Playwright, or Cypress
• Experience with web application performance optimization
• CDN performance tuning
• Knowledge of other languages like Python, React Native
• Familiarity with Optimizely, NewRelic, JMeter, BrowserStack
• Proficiency in Azure Services: Azure App Services, Blob Storage, Cosmos DB, Azure SQL

• Lead a team of Software Development Engineers, DevOps Engineers, QAs, UX/UI in designing, developing, and delivering scalable, reliable software solutions
• Drive technical leadership and operational excellence, including code and design reviews, testing, and deployment
• Contribute hands-on (~60%) to engineering software products and solutions
• Ensure adherence to coding standards, best practices, and architectural guidelines; mentor team members
• Oversee technical architecture implementation and resolve technical challenges
• Implement and promote DevSecOps practices and serve as the technical decision point within the team
• Advise and drive the selection of development approaches
• Coordinate software development and manage technical debt
• Hire, onboard, mentor, and develop engineering talents fostering a collaborative culture
• Lead technical discussions with other teams and ensure quality of the technology stack
• Represent the domain in cross-functional technical discussions
• Design and improve processes to enhance efficiency and quality
