Senior Python Software Engineer (GIS)

Rublon Services provides consulting, custom software development, and cloud services since 1993. The company serves market leaders in the automotive, energy, and telecommunications sectors. The project involves developing GIS applications for a leading European telecommunications company expanding its network.

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with strong depth in Python (currently Python 3.11)
• Practical experience with PostgreSQL, writing efficient SQL, understanding indexing and performance
• Hands-on use of SQLAlchemy and Alembic or equivalents for ORM-backed development and safe database migrations
• Ability to design and evolve service-oriented components: API design, integration patterns, backward compatibility
• Strong engineering hygiene including automated testing, code reviews, refactoring, debugging, and performance tuning
• Ability to drive technical decisions and align stakeholders
• Experience operating in regulated and security-conscious environments, building with security and privacy as first-class requirements
• Experience with Agile delivery, especially SAFe, and tools such as GitLab, Jira, Confluence, and Microsoft Teams
• Experience working in Windows Server/RDS development environments using VS Code or PyCharm

• Design, build, and evolve Python services and data-driven components for GIS applications
• Develop and maintain data pipelines and processing workflows
• Model, query, and migrate application data with PostgreSQL; write efficient SQL
• Implement and maintain geospatial capabilities using Shapefiles and geospatial libraries
• Integrate and operate GIS tooling and services such as GeoServer; collaborate with QGIS users
• Improve system performance, scalability, reliability, and observability
• Contribute to DevOps and delivery activities including GitLab CI and scripting (PowerShell, Windows Batch)
• Collaborate in a SAFe setup within a multi-team program, participating in refinement, planning, reviews, and technical alignment
• Build with security and privacy considerations
• Maintain engineering quality through code reviews, automated testing, and documentation using Jira and Confluence
